Congratulations! We are excited to be a part of this special time in your life. It is a time of great joy that is also filled with uncertainty and many questions.

The experienced providers at MetroPartners OBGYN will work closely with you throughout your pregnancy to answer questions, provide support and ensure you have a safe and healthy pregnancy. We invite you to take advantage of our robust pregnancy services which include ultrasounds and postpartum support. Our team delivers at two hospitals throughout the east metro, giving you the option to find a hospital and environment that is right for you.

First Trimester of Pregnancy (Conception – 14 Weeks)

When you first find out that you are pregnant, we would like you to visit our office for an initial appointment. One of our highly qualified advance practice providers (APPs) will review your health history, family history, and medications. Our clinic offers prenatal screening tests, early ultrasound to see the baby and hear the heartbeat, and due date confirmation. We can assist in helping you plan out your pregnancy, in addition to answering any questions or concerns that you may have.

Second Trimester of Pregnancy (14 – 28 Weeks)

In the second trimester, we can use ultrasound or other tests to screen for health concerns and identify any risk factors that may affect the baby’s health. These tests include screening for genetic and neural tube conditions, diabetes testing, and general growth and development of the baby and placenta. We are here to guide you into the next stage of pregnancy.

Third Trimester of Pregnancy (28 Weeks – Delivery)

During the third trimester, we prepare you and the baby for your delivery. In the office, we perform abdominal and cervical checks to determine the position of the baby and observe any changes. Maternal blood pressure and the baby’s growth are closely monitored during this time. We recommend TDaP vaccination at 30-34 weeks, and will screen for group B streptococcus (GBS) typically at 36 weeks. This is a time to review your plans for the baby’s delivery and personal wishes so that your delivery date can go as smoothly as possible.

Postpartum

After delivering the baby, a patient enters their postpartum period and prepare to take on their role as a new parent or a parent who is expanding their family. We fully support patients who want to breastfeed and have the resources to encourage success. Whether you have a vaginal delivery or caesarean section, we can help guide you in your return to normal activities. Patients can undergo hormonal changes that can predispose them to postpartum blues and other changes in their mood. Whether you have had a very routine postpartum period or not, this is a very important part of your pregnancy care and we have the expertise to guide you through it.
